Uber Technologies, Inc. was established in 2009 by Travis Kalanick and his friend Garrett Camp in Silicon Valley. Uber, which gained notoriety for its self-named ride-hailing service, now operates in more than 400 cities across more than 70 countries, including more than 60 locations in mainland China. In June 2010, Uber formally debuted its service in San Francisco, and in August of that same year, Ryan Graves was named CEO. Shortly after, Graves resigned as CEO and was succeeded by Kalanick. In addition to serving on the board of directors, Graves is vice president of operations.
